The British Virgin Islands are a self-governing British overseas territory in the Caribbean just to the north-east of the US Virgin Islands. The economy is one of the most stable and prosperous in the Caribbean. The US dollar is the legal currency within the British Virgin Islands. Unfortunately, the BVI does not offer any options for retirees to become full-time residents. In order to be eligible for a Certificate of Residence, applicants need to have lived in the country for 20 years (work visa, marriage, etc.).<\/p>
