Keep the water circulating overnight. During this time, the line flush agent will purge the biofilm colonies and other nasties in the pipework into the tub water in the form of brown scum. Ensure to remove it from the hot tub completely. Then drain the tub to get rid of the bad water. Never use the hot tub with the line flush agent present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The shell of your hot tub needs to be cleaned regularly. Oils, sunscreen, lotions, shampoo residuals, and the calcium hardness in the water can lead to slimy buildup on the tub shell if not cleaned regularly. This dirt can easily reach the water when you use your tub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I recommend you use a non-abrasive soft rug or magic eraser to wipe down the tub shell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n You may use a mild soap solution or a diluted vinegar solution to remove the dirt buildup on the shell wall. Wiping down the shell after a purge is important to ensure that the biofilm does not stick to the shell, contaminating the water again. Similarly, rinse the shell thoroughly to remove any soap or cleaner residue before filling the tub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To keep the hot tub healthy and running, ensure to clean the tub cover periodically. Use an anti-mold spray or a solution of vinegar onto the cover to clean it. You need to pull out the core foam of the cover to clean any mildew growth due to the trapped moisture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Use mild soap solution to spray the cabinet surface of the hot spa. Hot tub cabinets may show stains and residue buildup after months of hot tub use. Wiping down after spraying the soap solution will remove stains and residue. Do not use abrasive chemicals or solvents which can impact the cabinet surface. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The following table shows the recommended schedule for cleaning different parts of your hot tub:<\/p>\n\n\n\n A commonly used domestic cleaner for hot tubs is white vinegar. It is useful as a descaling agent and as a solution to deep clean filters. You can also use specific tub cleaning products sold by hot tub manufacturers. But often, the basic ingredients of these fancy hot tub chemicals are available at a lower price. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Hot tub owners also use bleach to clean the hot tubs and keep the sanitizer levels in the hot tub water. You can use detergents to remove the stains on the shells. If you have calcium buildup or water spots showing in the shell of your hot tub, use a mixture of 1 part vinegar to two parts warm water to remove it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For purging the biofilms out of a hot tub during your drain-refill cycle, there are several options. Ahh-some is a very effective line flush cleaner. It is also effective in purging hot tubs which were left unused for some time. There are other similar products like SpaGuard System Flush. But I think Ahh-some is very effective in deep cleaning to get rid of the nasties inside the tubes of the hot tub. <\/p>\n\n\n\n For other cleaning and descaling the tub shell, vinegar is very effective. The cleansing efficiency of the vinegar would depend on the concentration it has. A vinegar solution is recommended for deep cleaning hot tub filters as well. A sodium triphosphate solution also can be used for this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Shock is effective in eliminating germs in the hot tub water. But it will not deep clean the tubes of the hot tub. The tubes of the hot tub are the areas where the bacteria in the tub water create biofilms that are difficult to reach and clean. Shock is generally not powerful enough to get these biofilms off the inner tubes of the hot tub. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A line flush like Ahh-some is much more effective in eliminating these biofilms. Mix Ahh-some to the hot tub water and let the hot tub run overnight. The line flush will go through the tub tubes and clear off the biofilm colonies from inside. Drain the water after using it, and clean the whole hot tub thoroughly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You would find it in the form of brown gunk on the waterline. Ensure to remove this gunk from your tub if it sticks to the shell after draining the water.
