Torre del Mar is a beautiful little town located in the province of Malaga on the Costa del Sol; in the region known as the Axarquia. However, it is relatively quieter in the winter compared to the summer season when tourism is at its peak.   • Paseo Maritimo: This famous promenade is 4 km (2 Miles) long and has beautiful views of the sea. It is lined with Palm trees and linked through the marina to the adjacent city of Caleta de Velez.
  • Torre del Mar Lighthouse: Located on the Paseo Marítimo de Poniente. It holds significant historic value and is an interesting landmark of the town.
  • Playa de Torre del Mar: A 3 km (2 Miles) long beach which is the most famous among tourists. It has a large promenade lined with restaurants and bars and is easily accessible to the people living nearby.
  • Antiguo Castillo de Torre del Mar: A landmark with historical relevance build in the 1700s. This fort is oddly located in the town center and is a fascinating sight to see for visitors.

  • Fabrica de Azukar: A former sugar factory located in the town. It is now recognized as an industrial heritage.

  • Nearby towns: Visitors can take a day trip to the neighboring coastal towns of Torrox, Almayate and Caleta de Velez.
  • Bodegas Bentomiz: A charming Winery located in the hills of Axarquia (19 km (12 Miles) from Torre del Mar). Highly recommended for a day trip as you get to taste the different wines and visit the production house along with the vineyards.
  • El Morche: Among the most famous beaches of Torrox (12 km (7 Miles) from Torre del Mar) and is a popular spot for people who come by to relax and enjoy the coastal views. There are restaurants and bars located nearby as well.
  • Mudejar church of Nuestra Señorea de la Encarnación: Located in Olvera (23 km (14 Miles) from Torre del Mar), this church is a magnificent historic sight built in the 16th century.
  • Iglesia de San Juan Bautista: A 16th-century church made in a Gothic-Muldehar architectural design and is located near the town. An interesting sight to visit.

Transport

The bus service around Torre del Mar is excellent as you can get around easily. It is interconnected with over 20 cities in Spain through the local buses. The town has its own bus terminal located about 650 meter (2133 feet) from the main town and is easily accessible by foot. It is the most affordable form of transport in the area.
